WhatsApp, a platform owned by Meta, is introducing an easy-to-use tool that aims to empower users over their app updates, ultimately relieving the annoying and continuous pain of upgrades.
Users can now choose to have the app update automatically over Wi-Fi when new versions become available or to receive an alert when a new version is ready for download.
It is important to note that this option is only accessible on devices that come with Meta App Manager pre-installed.
Some OxygenOS devices come with it pre-installed, allowing users to use the update management capability straight from the app settings.
On the other hand, this particular update management function through the app settings might not be accessible to users of other operating systems or devices that do not have Meta App Manager installed.
Importantly, manually downloading the Meta App Manager on devices that did not come with it preloaded does not give access to this particular update management capability, adding a layer of exclusivity to select devices.
Although users can already set up their apps to update automatically when new versions are released through the Google Play Store, this new option from WhatsApp offers an extra degree of customization.
Users of specific device models and some OxygenOS beta testers retain the ability to manually manage app updates by choosing whether or not to get update notifications.
